Mr. Talkbox Shares His 'Playlist' On New Album & Delivers Some Sonic 'Sunshine'

Byron Chambers began his solo career over 15 years ago. But for the past decade, the man now known as Mr. Talkbox has been lending his unique skill set to other artists – elevating remarkable songs to iconic status. The GRAMMY Award winner's distinct sound can be heard on hits by Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B, T-Pain and Avery*Sunshine. He's also won Dove Awards for his work with Gospel and Contemporary Christian artists like CeCe Winans, Marvin Sapp and TobyMac. In his words, he's "the artist that you don’t know you know." However, with his new album Playlist, he provides 15 reasons why you'll want to remember his name.

Via press release, Mr. Talkbox describes Playlist, saying, “This album embodies all the vibes you feel on the weekend. Friday’s Playlist is the post-work dance break that we all need. Saturday’s Playlist has the R&B and Hip Hop tracks that make you wanna cruise with the top down. While Sunday’s Playlist takes you to a hip church service that encourages the soul. It’s an album that’ll make you want to dance a bit but also feed your soul, and the way we do it with the Talkbox is pretty cool.”

Admittedly, the collection may not appeal to listeners who prefer a more natural, acoustic sound. But despite Mr. Talkbox's heavy use of the electronic device throughout the album (not to be confused with a vocoder), the artist does a great job of giving each song a distinct sound. This is a nod to his mastery of the instrument as well as the incredible roster of featured artists on the album, which includes PJ Morton, Avery*Sunshine, T-Pain, BJ the Chicago Kid, Andy Mineo, J Moss, Shirley Murdock and MonoNeon. His own family is featured throughout the project as well, with his mother (Sharon Chambers), daughter (Yaubryon Chambers) and son (Lil Byron) lending their voices.
