Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington & 9th Wonder Wrap Up Their ‘Dinner Party’ With 'Dessert'

We're still consuming and digesting the satisfying soul food that Dinner Party served up this summer courtesy of their eponymous debut. But Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper and 9th Wonder are wise enough to know that there's always room for dessert. The supergroup dropped a little something that made our weekend even sweeter with their remix project Dinner Party: Dessert.

The EP showcases alternative takes on all seven tracks from the original album. While the instrumental foundation and production savvy – along with Phoelix's melty vocals – remain the main course, an impressive array of guest artists transforms Dessert into a meal all by itself. And although we personally didn't contribute a thing to this musical potluck, we're more than happy to partake.

Young rappers bring thoughtful wit and provocative edge to tracks "Sleepless Nights," which features Buddy and Reuben Vincent, and "Freeze Tag" where Cordae steps up to the mic. Iconic jazz and silky soul partner with inimitable emcees on "First Responders" featuring Bilal and Punch, "The Mighty Tree" with Herbie Hancock and Rapsody and "LUV U" with Snoop Dogg and Alex Isley. Meanwhile "Love You Bad" and "From My Heart And My Soul" get elevated to next-level status thanks to Malaya and Tank & The Bangas, respectively. Even with so many names added to the roster, the song transformations are seamless thanks to the musical camaraderie among these talented peers.
