Teyana Taylor Shows The Push & Pull Of Love In 'Concrete'

Consistency and honesty are hard to come by in relationships. They’re often treated as goals or even a fantasy. But Teyana Taylor isn’t about to settle for anything less than the real thing – even if the loving is good. That’s the subject of her latest single “Concrete.”

Taken from her latest release The Album, “Concrete” is a sultry slow jam that finds Teyana telling her lover that she needs to feel something real. She enjoys the physical pleasures of their relationship but doesn’t want to get caught up in smoking, drinking, loving or even fighting away their problems.

The video for “Concrete” is another self-directed visual featuring her husband Iman Shumpert. Unlike the video for “Wake Up Love,” though, things aren’t as light and airy. Instead, there’s a storm cloud hovering over their relationship. The clip starts with Teyana driving up to her mansion, thinking of happier times in their relationship. She walks in, and at first, the two can’t keep their hands (or tongues) off each other. But in the next moment, Teyana doesn’t want to be bothered at all. The couple is caught up between pleasure and pain, trying to make sense of their relationship without getting caught up in their own lust. Will they finally find what they need to keep going or will it all end? We’ll leave that up to you to find out when you see the surprise ending.
