From cozy cafe/elixir-serving Calabash Tea & Tonic to funky purveyor-of-flavors The Spice Suite, the DC area is blessed with awesome Black woman-owned shops that create unique blends of tea. Our latest obsession, Ivy's Tea Co., is yet another reason we can't get enough of the aromatic beverage.
Founded by herbalist Shanae Jones, the hip-hop-inspired holistic health brand has carved out a special place in this niche market. Handcrafted herbal blends like Nip's Tea (in honor of Nipsey Hussle), Energyyy (inspired by Big K.R.I.T.'s "Energy") and C.R.E.A.M. aren't just delicious, they're good for you as well. But the teas aren't the only star of the show. Herb-infused honeys, #TrapTea spoons with snarky sayings, #TrapTea-inspired art (by South African artist Nina Formanek) and Trap China (cup and saucer sets) are equally worthy of our dollar, dollar bills, y'all. – B.
