Jazmine Sullivan & H.E.R. Share The Plight Of Good Girls On 'Girl Like Me'

One thing we are here for in 2021 is the triumphant return of Jazmine Sullivan. After a six-year hiatus following the release of her stellar 2015 album Reality Show, Jazmine is set to return with the release of her new project Heaux Tales. We've already heard two amazing cuts from the set — "Lost One" and "Pick Up Your Feelings" — so we already know this is going to be a quality affair. In case you have any doubts, though, Jazmine collaborates with H.E.R. for her latest single "Girl Like Me."

"Girl Like Me" finds the celebrated singer-songwriters lamenting the plight of the good girl over an acoustic guitar track produced by Bongo ByTheWay. Each takes a turn describing the things they've done to find and keep love. While it seemed that they've done everything right, it seems like the girls who catch the fellas are the ones willing to be a freak in the sheets and the streets. "It ain't right how these hoes be winnin' / Why they be winnin'? / No hope for a girl like me," they sing on the chorus. "How come they be winnin'? / I don't wanna be / But you gon' make a ho outta me." It's a sentiment that not many talk about, but leave it to Jazmine Sullivan to once again bring another fresh perspective on love and relationships to the table.

We can't wait for Jazmine to share all of her Heaux Tales. We'll soon get our wish as the project is set to drop this Friday, January 8th. Get into Jazmine and H.E.R. telling it like it is when you press play.
