We're only six days in, but 2021 is already looking a little better than its predecessor (though that's an admittedly low bar). But to make sure that the energy for the rest of the year is right, we're gonna need to make sure the vibes stay positive. Jhené Aiko started the year off right with a medley of cuts from her GRAMMY-nominated album Chilombo and a sound bath for us to enjoy.
The singer-songwriter sits fireside for the occasion while bathed in purple light. Picking and choosing from the album, she offers songs that speak to relationships and life while offering a bit of quiet calm and even some inspiration. When she's not performing tracks like "Magic Hour," "Born Tired" and "Summer 2020" against a simple musical back drop, she's sipping what we think is tea and putting her large Tibetan singing bowls to good use to switch up the energy. It seems that Chilombo's songs, which mingle joy and pain, are the perfect way to shake off the energy of the past year while also acknowledging the joy and lessons we gained from it. And we're sure that everyone could use some of that right now.
Allow Jhené Aiko to take you on a spiritual journey when you check out her Chilombo medley below, and be sure to give the album a spin if you haven't gotten the chance to listen to it in its entirety just yet.
