We all want to know exactly what's going on when it comes to matters of heart. Conya Doss definitely does. The singer, who we last heard from when she paired with artist OsKeyz for their EP 6019, is set to drop her latest LP Through Rose Colored Glasses later this year. But first she confronts wanting to get the real deal on a potential love affair with the release of her new single "Wishful Thinking."
On the song, Conya sets a serious conversation of the heart to a mellow-smooth melody as she gets to the bottom of what's going on. She addresses her feelings on the verse, questioning her beau's feelings and intent in order to get some clarity on the situation while laying her heart on the line. "My heart didn't travel this far / Only just to come this far," Conya sings at one point. "Just won't let go / It's not that simple / 'Cause of what we're building on." Helping her express these complex emotions is an arrangement of guitar and piano that is as silky as her own voice. And speaking of voices, hers is supported by the sweet-sounding vocal of her friend in music B. Golden, who adds some beautiful harmonies to the affair.
Conya Doss never misses whenever she drops new music, and "Wishful Thinking" is no exception. It's a great introduction to her new album and has us anxious to put on Through Rose Colored Glasses whenever it arrives.
