desduné Wants To 'Work It Out' With His Debut Single

When you're related to someone famous, sometimes it's hard to make a name for yourself. We'd imagine this rings especially true when you call award-winning actress Regina King mom. We don't think that's really an issue for rising star desduné, though. The talented singer-songwriter comes correct with the release of his debut single "Work It Out."

The song cuts through much of the mainstream R&B out now thanks to a sound that borrows cues from dance tracks of years past. He assembles swinging programmed drums and builds from there with a synth melody that hums just beneath the surface. When it comes to the subject matter, he mines familiar territory as he explores a relationship that's not working. While the repetitive chorus may seem like he's trying to make things better, the verse indicates something might be amiss in the love realm. "This pain can't go with that / This pain got me feelin' bad / Your love is oh so fake / How long does it have to take?" he sings on the first verse. "Have my heart but you wanna date / It's OK, it's OK / Can't work from the other days / Meditate and find a way."

"Work It Out" is an interesting listen for sure, and it has us wondering what desduné has coming on his EP Clementine, which is set to arrive sometime this year. Get into the newcomer's groove when you take a listen to the track below.
