Fousheé Takes On Depeche Mode With 'enjoy the silence'

Fousheé is an artist on the rise with songs like "gold fronts" and has major buzz surrounding her upcoming project Time Machine. The singer isn't just your typical R&B singer, however. She proves just that by taking one of electronic band Depeche Mode's classic tracks, "Enjoy The Silence," and reimagining it for H&M's summer clothing campaign.

Her take on the song doesn't change much of the original song's structure. The same lilting guitar acts as the song's main melodic motif while some elements of R&B are infused into the mix.  The result is a haunting track, allowing Fousheé and her unique voice to interpret the lyrics in her own way. "Words like violence / Break the silence / Come crashing in / Into my little world," she sings. "Painful to me / Pierce right through me / Can't you understand?" The song and its pleas for just enjoying the peace and quiet found in silence are relatable to many, especially those who prefer solitude. Though the track has always been a slightly dreary one, the singer manages to give it a bit of warmth that works quite well.

When she's not giving H&M campaigns a soundtrack, Fousheé is putting the finishing touches on Time Machine. The project, which the singer described to NME as "a time travel through memories, thoughts, emotions, experiences and what [she] sees for the prospective future," is due out on June 4th and promises to be something very different. While we count down the days to the project's release, check out "enjoy the silence" when you stream the track and watch the visualizer below.
