Eric Bellinger & Sevyn Streeter Break Up With No Make Up On 'What About Us'

When a couple breaks up, there are always multiple reasons why: his, hers and the truth. Eric Bellinger and Sevyn Streeter both give us their side to the tale of a relationship that bit the dust on the new single “What About Us.”

Eric kicks things off remembering the good times. "What about me, what about you, what about love, what about trust? / What about then? Talking back when you would hop in when I pull up / Reminiscing 'bout back then lately," he sings on the pre-chorus that begins the song. He soon slips into his feels on the first verse, though. “How you gon' unfollow me, leave me for the streets, babе? / There's no degree, how cold you could bе, bae,” Bellinger whines. Unfortunately for him, Sevyn ain’t trying to hear it at all. She shares her side, and it ain't pretty. “Even though I left with my head high, I was broken like promises / Don't play the victim with me, guilty as can be, bae / Do you believe the s**t that you speak, bae?” she sings, reading him for filth. What makes this song work, besides the mid-tempo groove courtesy of producers Ayo & Keyz, is the strong songwriting that actually sounds similar to what you may hear a one-time couple say after a break up.

“What About Us” is the latest single to come from the prolific singer-songwriter that is Eric Bellinger. This track follows recent singles “Shine On The World,” “Only Fan” and “Go Get It,” all of which are set to be featured on his upcoming untitled album scheduled for release this fall.
