Summer 2021 is on its last legs and what a summer it has been. Despite still dealing with a pandemic, this year saw the return of a few seasonal staples (including a few ill-advised summer festivals). As we wind down and prepare for the coming fall, our soundtracks will probably also change with the season. But before we start creating that playlist, Pher has another steamy number to add to it with "Cool Down."
Pher, who you perhaps once knew as singer Chris Turner, crafted the slow burner with production and songwriting assist from Chiiild and Jesse Boykins III. The result is a slow-but-steady paced bedroom jam based around a bass riff and Pher's vocal. Adding reverb to the mix to create an echo-y effect, the sparse track aims directly at seducing your senses. Layered harmonies help achieve that goal as he sings on the chorus, "Cool down / I'm coming over for the cool down / The summer's over so it's cool now / She needs a lover when it cool down / To keep her warm." Though we don't appreciate him prematurely announcing the summer's end, his sensual vocal and measured use of falsetto (not to mention these sexy lyrics) are more than enough to earn our forgiveness and then some.
