Shakka & Imani Williams Are Entangled & On The Run In ‘Doin' Time’

British singer-songwriter Shakka and songstress Imani Williams link up for the duet “Doin’ Time,” and they are ready to risk it all. Friends turned undercover lovers, their link up is of the sneaky variety and they just can’t get enough of each other.

On the midtempo Afro-Caribbean tune, the secret lovers hope that no one, like say her boyfriend, finds out. “I did something bad and I did it with you / When your guy move mad, I’m the one you slide through,” Shakka proclaims in the first verse, giving us a glimpse of their scandalous situation. Imani creeps on the down low but is careful not to get caught, admitting during her verse, “When I’m with him, I wanna call your name.”

This escapade is brought to life as a Bonnie and Clyde type story in the music video. The Eric Myers-directed clip finds Shakka and his lady love on the run from a bounty on their heads. We don’t ever get to see 12 on their heels but are instead treated to a beautiful fantasy road trip through the countryside. Imani gets some screen time, too, with scenes of the blonde beauty singing at home and outside in a field mixed in.

“Doin’ Time” will appear on Shakka’s long-awaited debut album, Road Trip To Venus, scheduled for release on September 24th. Previous singles ”When You Pull Up” and ”Solo” featuring GoldLink will also be included on the project, which is available now for pre-save/pre-order.
