As they prepare for the release of their fifth studio album next month, Los Angeles-based trio Moonchild kicks off the New Year with another track from the project. “Tell Him” features GRAMMY Award-winning SoulBounce fave Lalah Hathaway and follows the lead single “Too Good” and the celestial collaboration “You Got One” with Alex Isley.
In their signature lush tones, vocalist Amber Navran and Ms. Hathaway sing of the moment in a relationship when communication becomes a challenge. Whether it's due to indifference or complacency, when your partner is more likely to receive critique from a more objective source, these songbirds suggest calling for reinforcements. Amber explains, “Sometimes you just have to call their friend and say, “‘hey, you tell them.’”
“Tell Him” was birthed from the band’s creative process during the lockdown of 2020 as part of a month-long “Song A Day” challenge. At a time when many creatives struggled to find inspiration, it seems the challenge helped the band keep the ideas flowing. The groovy tune will kick off the new album and will undoubtedly set the tone for the 14-track project. Having gained the respect and praise of their peers, solidifying their status as one of the most prolific trios of our time, we can’t wait to add the new album to our collection.
